Convento do Carmo I: my city of ruins
Ruínas do Convento do Carmo, Lisboa. Built in 1389, the church and convent of Carmo were destroyed in Lisbon's 1755 earthquake. The library and its 5000 books were forever lost. However, the ruins still stand there, quietly, reminding us that some things may fall while others, our pillars and foundations, bend but do not break. Our city of ruins.
